The main aim of this training tool is to encourage and equip organised sports clubs and federations to take action to reduce the gender gap in sport. While the partnership acknowledges that this is an issue that requires a systemic approach - including, for example, change within the education system - we believe things can also be done within our sports organisations.
The potential of sport in addressing wider agendas such as health, economic stability, social inclusion, etc, is indeed widely recognised. Yet the sector is facing few challenges to unlock its potential particularly in terms of modernising its approach to keep and increase numbers of active participants.
This worrying and imbalanced situation is not new and has long been identified, with few concrete initiatives and political documents aiming at addressing it. Therefore, a lot remains to be done and we believe that any work to promote and improve gender equality in sport will be beneficial to all.
